My Rose and Damask centerpieces/tablescapes

Unlike many other parts of my wedding, I didn't really have a clear idea of what I wanted the tables to look like. I had a vision of the room — dimmed with flickering candlelight, romantic, elegant. Originally I was thinking a small, simple centerpiece like this one:



I was so close to having this as my centerpiece that I even had the estimate from the florist ready to sign and send a deposit. Then my future mother-in-law showed me this photo:



This is just different enough without losing track of the "simple and elegant" theory. It will have black magic roses (which are a really deep red, and are the same roses I'll have in my bouquet) and a black ribbon.

This centerpiece will sit on a damask runner. Next to the centerpiece will be a wine bottle table number, such as this one:

There will also be plenty of candles — on each table will be one 6-inch pillar candle, one 3-inch pillar candle and 4 votive candles, plus a handful of dark red rose petals.

Once I finally got this vision figured out in my head, I started to panic that it wouldn't be set up perfectly. (I usually subscribe to the mindset that if I want something done right, I have to do it myself. Delegating? What's that?) So, the designer in me came out and I created a mock-up in Photoshop.



It's hard to read, but each of the elements on the table is labeled. (It's much bigger when it hasn't been scaled down for the web.) Creating this mock-up calmed my anxiety — all I have to do now is give this printout to my (very reliable) wedding venue coordinator, and I trust fully that he'll direct his staff to set this up exactly as its supposed to be. (Well, almost fully. I might send a bridesmaid out there to check it out before I walk down the aisle and make any adjustments necessary.)

The other good thing is that I'm allowed to bring over all supplies the day before the wedding when we have the rehearsal. Perhaps I'll be able to set up a table (probably sans the actual floral centerpiece, which will be delivered the day of the wedding) so the coordinator can see it there as well.

Wait, is that me getting too paranoid/perfectionist about this? Oh, there I go again...
