The Couple. Erin and Michael met at work. Once relocated to a new building in 2009, they found out that they both resided in Annapolis and had many of the same interests. After playing “getting to know you” for an entire year in the kitchen and hallway at work, they went on their first date in November of 2010.

The Venue. Woods Church was Erin’s childhood church and the church where both her parents and her maternal grandparents were married. Mike and Erin were the third generation within the family to get married at Woods, which meant a lot to them. They picked the Governor Calvert House for their reception because of the historic Annapolis feel and the beautiful brick atrium with the soft white string lights; it was classic and just what they had imagined.

The Dress. Erin found her dress at Bridals by Elena, which was her first bridal dress appointment. Her consultant let her shop around the store and pick a few dresses to try on and while she picked one for Erin as well. The dress she picked for Erin was the one! “I love lace and was looking for a classic look,” explains Erin, “and this dress was everything that I was hoping for.”

The Veil. The most personalized detail of their wedding was Erin’s veil. She wore her mother’s cathedral length wedding veil that she designed herself with lace appliques that just happened to match Erin’s dress perfectly.
The Ceremony. The ceremony went off without a hitch. Their officiant performed a very personalized and meaningful ceremony, Mike’s cousin Sophie sang the most beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace” and Erin’s grandfather graciously did a reading. However, their favorite memory from the ceremony was when they turned towards each other to say their vows. It was the first time the couple really had the chance to lock eyes and it is a moment they will never forget.

The Cocktail Hour. Erin and Michael were lucky enough to be able to enjoy their cocktail hour, where they were so excited to talk to friends and family that they didn’t realize the hunger that was overcoming them. At one point, they made a break for the crudités, sneaking a carrot or cracker in between hugs and hellos. They still laugh at this memory.

The Cake. They chose a four-tiered cake layered with almond cake with almond brittle filling and vanilla cake with raspberry filling. They call it “equally beautiful and delicious.”

The Best Decision. Choosing Governor Calvert House for their reception was the best decision Erin and Michael believe they made. They found the staff a pleasure to work with and love that their reception was executed flawlessly. “I knew they had everything under control, which allowed me to enjoy the day that much more,” recalls Erin.
