The Appalachian Trail comes to D.C. – bumps, bruises and all. A special photo exhibit in the Rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building September 17-21 displays 17 photographs by various artists which showcase the renowned Trail, the longest hiking-only footpath in the world. The exhibit, curated by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, presents alluring photos of misty boardwalks, sunlit ridgelines, and the Trail’s famous green tunnel. It also presents the harsh reality for thru-hikers who attempt to walk the A.T.’s nearly 2,200 miles.
